Our Vision

With LEEP, the Dual Language Lab of Greensboro will be a tuition-free, K-5 bilingual public charter school and community center where children from diverse backgrounds come together to learn in both Spanish and English -- and where parents build English skills and community alongside other families. We combine joy with rigorous academics. Children excel when they feel safe, supported, curious, and challenged -- and that is the environment we are building. Our long-term vision is to become the only K-12 bilingual public school district in North Carolina, offering a complete Spanish-English education from kindergarten through high school.

Co-Founder: Marvin Espinoza-Leiva

Marvin Martin Espinoza-Leiva is a Greensboro resident and educator with more than a decade of experience leading public charter schools, including serving as Director of Operations at Henderson Collegiate — a 1,300-student charter network serving Black, Latino, and immigrant families in North Carolina.His family is from Nicaragua, where his parents fled civil war with nothing in order to build a new life for themselves and their children. Now, Marvin wants to establish The Language Lab of Greensboro so that more parents and their children — like his own family — have the same opportunities to succeed and feel at home in their community.He holds degrees from the University of Chicago and UNC Chapel Hill, and is completing a master's degree at Carnegie Mellon. He began his career as a Teach For America teacher and built his first bilingual program for children at an after-school program in a church during his undergraduate years.--

Co-Founder: Samuel Wachtel

Samuel Wachtel is an education and technology leader whose work spans teaching calculus in Henderson, NC, building AI tools, and consulting at Oliver Wyman. He has helped launch Honor Prep, a bilingual school in Charlotte, and focuses on bringing rigorous academics and practical innovation into new school models. Samuel is especially interested in adapting international best practices to the needs of American communities.He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and is committed to building schools that are both excellent and deeply rooted in the families they serve.--
